Intermission
The things we care about have a rhythm of review: the business every quarter, the car every few thousand miles, the roof every winter. Whatever we hope to keep in good condition, we check from time to time, and our lives deserve the same periodic attention.
Intermission is both the interval and the instrument - a repeatable method for interrupting ordinary life, recovering direction, and protecting ourselves from the consequences of inner confusion. It is a tool for one of our most consistent challenges: remembering what matters to us and keeping our lives aligned with it.
A New Approach
Most workbooks make big promises and then hand you generic prompts and blank boxes. Worse, they take weeks of introspection to complete.
Intermission is built differently.
It reads like an art book, works like a manual, and is paced to be finished in a single sitting. Each page opens with something concrete and closes with an exercise worth doing. By the end, you may not know what to do with the rest of your life, but you'll know what deserves your attention now and how to make room for it back home.
Note from the Maker
I've read the self-help shelf and winced at most of it. I take the subject seriously but can't stand the language: the affirmations, the "best self" talk, the recycled slogans. Intermission is the workbook I couldn't find - a short sequence of good ideas and useful questions, with nothing to roll your eyes at.

FAQ
Who is it for?
Anyone who senses a gap between the life they are living and the one they keep meaning to get to, and wants a structured day to look at that gap honestly. It's a tool for reflection, not therapy, and it isn't designed for a crisis.
What's included?
A 33-page PDF split into five sections:
- Introduction
- Taking Inventory
- Imagining Otherwise
- Building Coherence
- Resumption
Each page pairs a short essay with an inventive exercise, and the finished book becomes a record you can revisit when you catch yourself drifting.
How long does it take?
About four hours of focused work, best spread across a single day away.
Where should I go?
Somewhere a few hours from home that carries little association and doesn't have much to see. A rented room can do the work of a monastery.
Can I get a refund?
Because the workbook is delivered instantly, all sales are final. If something is wrong with your order, write to us and we'll fix it.
